The band has some of the best Welsh musicians in its line up and since its
formation has performed regularly at public and private events throughout
South Wales.
It’s a true big band with 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, a 4-piece rhythm section and singers.
The Dave Barry Band is keeping the big band sound alive and well in the valleys. Big Bands have been around since the 1920's and the recent interest in swing music, recently enhanced by artists such as Michael Buble and Robbie Williams, has rekindled the flame.
New generations are thrilling to Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Bassie, Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller and of course the illustrious Duke Ellington. There are also those timeless Frank Sinatra classics, which always go down well with every type of audience, regardless of age.
The band has a considerable repertoire of big band classics and jazz standards. It also has an alternative repertoire of rhythm and blues, disco, latin and funk to liven up most reserved of audiences.
